“it’s what I’m showing you that’s a part of my life”

Growing up in the 757 and being Filipino my family would always stop by Angie's Bakery whenever we drove down to Virginia Beach. I remember when I was younger I would always enjoy eating their fresh pandesal. Now that I am older I recently had the opportunity to film a short Instagram commercial for them and that led me to meeting the owner, Ken Garcia Olaes, for the first time. When I first met him I didn't know that he was an artist and on first impressions he is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. When it came time to pick a subject for a documentary project in class my mind instantly went to Ken. I wanted to recreate the moment I felt when I first met him. That moment of realization that he is more than just an owner of a bakery he is a person who loves art and is passionate about it. My hope is that this film achieved that same feeling I had as well as provides a genuine outlook on Ken's life around art.
